Most refugee children never have the opportunity to go beyond elementary school, because schooling in refugee camps is usually quite limited. New Scholars, founded in California by a Sudanese graduate of Stanford and his college friend, wants to change that! New Scholars exists to provide scholarships to those Sudanese refugees in Kakuma Refugee Camp who score highest on the annual national exams. In addition to funding high school studies for the recipients at schools in Kenya, New Scholars provides leadership training to each cohort of awardees during their break times.
