Roodberlie

Growing up in rural Haiti, Roodberlie saw how limited access to medical care affected children in her community. She dreamed of studying medicine. Her parents, both teachers, opened a small food stand to help save for her education, but medical school remained beyond what the family could afford. MBB donors helped carry that dream forward—first through a secondary school scholarship and now through a full university scholarship.

Her path through medical school has not been straightforward. Gang threats forced classes online, unreliable electricity and phone service disrupted lectures, and administrative delays and a shortage of instructors slowed her progress. Still, Roodberlie studied independently and remained among the top 10 percent of her class.

When home, she tutors younger students and helps them prepare for university. Now approaching her clinical training, Roodberlie hopes to become a pediatrician and open a clinic in her community.
