Seida
After graduating from St. Bakhita Girls’ Primary School, MBB’s flagship project and the only all girls’ primary school in South Sudan, Seida feared her education might end. Whenever she asked about secondary school, she saw the worry on her mother’s face, sometimes nearly in tears. The family’s small market business could not cover Seida’s school fees while also supporting her two younger siblings.
An MBB scholarship lifted that burden. Now in her third year at St. Bakhita Girls’ Secondary School, Seida is a student leader and ranks among the top students in her class. She credits MBB’s pocket money with helping her access preventive healthcare. Staying healthy and present in the classroom, she says, is one reason she has succeeded academically.
As part of MBB’s Compassionate Action requirement, every Scholar volunteers in her community. Through this service and MBB’s leadership training, Seida shares how she has learned to recognize the needs around her and respond without expecting anything in return. She dreams of becoming a doctor and carrying that commitment to service into her career.
