Transforming Lives Through Education

Mercy Beyond Borders empowers women and girls in regions of extreme poverty by providing access to education, leadership training, and critical support services. Our programs span South Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Malawi, and Haiti, and focus on creating pathways for girls to thrive, even in the most challenging circumstances.

From scholarships and case-management support to counseling, leadership development and career planning, we aim to break down the barriers that hold young women back, giving them the tools they need to lift themselves up from extreme poverty and become changemakers in their communities.


Through Mercy Beyond Borders scholarships, 450 girls are in high school and university today, with thousands more supported in primary school.

How Will Her Story Unfold?

Rebecca grew up in a refugee camp in Kenya, where no one in her family had ever gone to school. With the help of MBB donors, she graduated high school in the top 10 of her class. She dreams of working in healthcare, but without a path to university, that dream could remain out of reach. Her story is caught on a cliffhanger — and your gift today can help her turn the page toward a future once thought impossible.

In a rural village in Malawi, Caroline is the only girl from her class who made it to high school — all of her agemates are already married with children, mocking her for being “late” in choosing education over marriage. Now at university, her grades are slipping under the weight of caring for her ailing grandmother, the only family she has. Each visit home means walking miles along railroad tracks with steep ravines on either side — a difficult journey as precarious as her future. Her story stands at a turning point — and your gift today gives her the chance to stay in university and pursue the future she has fought so hard to claim.

Across Haiti, South Sudan, Malawi, Uganda, and Kenya, MBB Scholars and Alumnae are turning their education into leadership, service, and change for their communities. With knowledge, integrity and compassion, they mentor younger students, serve as role models, and stand up for the rights of others. Here's how your donation can directly impact girls in extreme poverty:

  • $30: Can support daily program needs: solar lamps, gas, internet, etc.

  • $50: Can feed 50 high school Scholars in Haiti with a hot meal.

  • $125: Can support a girl’s primary school education for a full year, deferring early marriage.

  • $275: Can keep a girl in high school for a semester: tuition, room and board, personal stipend, solar lamp

  • $650: Can purchase a laptop for a university Scholar.

  • $950: Can cover a semester of university tuition, plus room & board, laptop, leadership training, & wrap-around services, bringing dreams of professional careers to life.

  • $1,850: Can care for the medical needs of 1,000+ girls at St. Bakhita Girls Primary in South Sudan for 1 month (medicine, supplies, 2 nurses)
