Vina—A Nurse Saving Lives in South Sudan
Growing up in a mud hut, Vina saw many village women die in childbirth— and dreamed of becoming a nurse.
She faced unimaginable obstacles to reach that goal. Her primary school was bombed—twice—during the civil war. Later, in nursing school, two of her classmates were killed by armed rebels. But Vina pressed on.
Now she’s running a rural clinic, serving as many as 100 patients each day. In a place where medical care is rare, Vina’s competence and care often make the difference between life and death.
