Wideline

Wideline is the first person in her family to study beyond primary school. In 2014, MBB donors began supporting her when she entered secondary school and later awarded her a scholarship to study accounting at the University of Notre Dame of Haiti.

Political protests and daily violence interrupted university life. Wideline checked the radio each morning before leaving home and traveled with classmates for safety. Eventually, she transferred to another campus where she could walk to class and continue her studies more safely.

Despite the ongoing chaos, Wideline excelled. She tutored classmates in mathematics, organized community cleanups, and helped her village advocate for better roads. Her capstone on strengthening Haiti’s local fish economy earned the highest score in the university.

Earlier this year, Wideline graduated with honors as MBB’s first university graduate in Haiti. She now hopes to earn a master’s degree and use her accounting skills to support Haitian communities.
